Referral System

Earn credits by inviting others to join the platform through a tiered referral rewards program.

Overview​

Testify's referral system lets every user earn credits by sharing a unique referral link. When someone signs up using your link, both you and the new user receive credits. The system features three reward tiers (Bronze, Silver, Gold) that increase payouts as you refer more people, a referral leaderboard, fraud prevention measures, and email notifications for every successful referral.

The referral program is accessible from the main menu and provides a dedicated dashboard for tracking your code, stats, and earnings.

How It Works​

Getting Your Referral Code​

  1. Navigate to the Referral page from the main menu.
  2. Your unique referral code and link are displayed at the top.
  3. Copy the link using the copy button or share it directly via social media.

Your referral code is a short, unique string tied to your account. The referral link includes your code as a URL parameter so the system automatically associates sign-ups with your account.

Share your referral link through any channel:

  • Copy and paste the link into messages, emails, or social media posts.
  • The link directs new users to the sign-up page with your referral code pre-filled.

How Referrals Are Processed​

When someone signs up using your referral link:

  1. The system validates the referral (see fraud prevention below).
  2. A referral record is created linking you (referrer) to the new user (referred).
  3. You receive credits based on your current tier (see Tier Rewards below).
  4. The new user receives 2 paper credits as a welcome bonus.
  5. Both you and the new user receive an email notification about the successful referral.
  6. Your referral count increases, potentially advancing you to the next tier.

Tier Rewards​

Your reward per referral increases as you accumulate more successful referrals:

  • The tier is calculated based on your total successful referral count at the time of each new referral.
  • Credits are awarded immediately upon successful referral processing.
  • Gold tier is the only tier that awards AI credits in addition to paper credits.

  • The next tier you are working toward.
  • How many referrals to next tier you need.

  • Total credits earned -- cumulative credits from all referrals.
  • Current tier and progress toward the next tier.
  • Recent referrals -- list of recent sign-ups with name, email, credits awarded, and date.

Referral Leaderboard​

See how you stack up against other referrers:

  • Rankings by total referral count and credits earned.
  • Your position is highlighted in the leaderboard.
  • The leaderboard encourages friendly competition among users.

Fraud Prevention​

The system includes several measures to prevent abuse:

  • Self-referral blocked -- you cannot use your own referral code.
  • Duplicate referral blocked -- a user can only be referred once.
  • Daily referral limit -- maximum 10 referrals per day to prevent bot abuse.
  • Same-domain email blocking -- referrals between users with the same email domain are blocked (except common providers like gmail.com, yahoo.com, outlook.com, hotmail.com, protonmail.com, icloud.com).
  • IP logging -- referral IPs are logged for admin fraud review (referrals are not blocked by IP, but flagged for review).

Email Notifications​

When a referral is successfully processed:

  • The referrer receives an email congratulating them and showing the credits awarded.
  • The new user receives a welcome email confirming their referral bonus.
  • Emails are branded according to the organization's white-label configuration.

Credit Integration​

Referral credits are deposited directly into the user's credit wallet:

  • Paper credits can be used for paper creation and marketplace purchases.
  • AI credits (Gold tier) can be used for AI-powered features like question generation.
  • Credits appear immediately in the user's wallet after referral processing.

Tips and Best Practices​

  • Share your link early -- the sooner you start, the faster you reach higher tiers.
  • Target relevant audiences -- share with colleagues, students, or education communities who would genuinely benefit from the platform.
  • Aim for Gold tier -- the AI credits at Gold tier are particularly valuable.
  • Check the leaderboard periodically to see your ranking and stay motivated.
  • Use social media -- posting your referral link in education groups can reach a larger audience.

For Administrators​

Administrators can view referral activity across the organization:

  • Monitor referral patterns and credit expenditure.
  • Review flagged referrals from the fraud prevention system.
  • Adjust referral program parameters if needed.
