Parent Portal Overview
Learn how to use the Testify Parent Portal to monitor your child's academic performance, view reports, and stay engaged with their learning journey.
Overview
The Parent Portal gives you read-only visibility into your child's exam results, performance analytics, and learning progress. You can link to one or more children's accounts, view their scores and rankings, track improvement trends, and access report cards -- all without being able to modify any data or interfere with their exams.
What Parents Can See
As a parent, you have access to the following information for each linked child:
- Exam results -- scores, rankings, and detailed breakdowns for every submitted exam
- Subject analytics -- performance by subject with accuracy percentages
- Performance trends -- monthly score trends and improvement trajectory
- Weak and strong areas -- chapters and topics where your child excels or struggles
- Certificates -- earned certificates with download links
- Achievements -- badges, streaks, and gamification progress
- Report cards -- periodic summaries of performance
- Upcoming exams -- scheduled exams assigned to your child
- Activity feed -- recent exam completions across all linked children
- Peer comparison -- how your child ranks relative to classmates
What Parents Cannot Do
The parent role is strictly read-only:
- Cannot take exams or submit answers
- Cannot modify student data or settings
- Cannot access teacher or admin features
- Cannot view other students' data (only linked children)
- Cannot create questions or exams
Signing Up as a Parent
Creating a Parent Account
- Go to the Testify signup page
- Enter your details:
- "Email" -- your email address
- "Password" -- choose a strong password (at least 8 characters)
- "First Name" and "Last Name"
- If your child's organization uses a tenant code, enter it in the "Tenant Code" field
- Click "Sign Up"
- Check your email and click the verification link to confirm your account
Tip: Use the same tenant code as your child's organization so your account is associated with the same institution.
Requesting Parent Role
After signing up, your account needs the Parent role assigned. This can happen in two ways:
- Admin-assigned -- ask the school or organization admin to assign the Parent role to your account
- Invite link -- if the organization provides a parent invite link, use it to sign up with the correct role pre-assigned
Linking to Your Child's Account
Getting a Link Code from Your Child
Your child generates a link code from their Testify account:
- Your child logs into Testify
- They go to "Settings" > "Parent Link"
- They click "Generate Link Code"
- A 6-character alphanumeric code is generated (e.g.,
A3F2B9) - Your child shares this code with you
The link code is a one-time-use code that expires when used. If the code is lost, your child can generate a new one.
Entering the Link Code
- Log into your Parent account
- Go to "My Children" > "Link a Child"
- Enter the 6-character link code your child provided
- Click "Link"
- The system verifies the code and creates the parent-child connection
- Your child's name and basic info appear in your "My Children" list
What Happens During Linking
- The code is validated against pending link records
- The parent-child relationship is stored with
activestatus - The placeholder record used for the code is removed
- You immediately gain access to your child's performance data
- Your child is notified that a parent has linked to their account
Tip: You cannot link to your own account. The system prevents self-linking.
Linking Multiple Children
Testify supports linking to multiple children from a single parent account.
- Repeat the linking process for each child
- Each child generates their own link code
- All linked children appear in your "My Children" list
- You can switch between children to view their individual data
Children Comparison
If you have multiple children linked:
- Go to "My Children" > "Compare"
- View a side-by-side comparison showing:
- Average score per child
- Best score per child
- Total exams taken
- Overall accuracy
Viewing Your Children
My Children List
- Navigate to "My Children"
- The list shows all linked children with:
- Student name
- Email address
- Roll number and department (if available)
- Total exams taken
- Average percentage across all exams

Activity Feed
- Go to "Activity Feed" on your dashboard
- See recent exam completions across all linked children:
- Child name
- Exam title
- Percentage score
- Rank out of total participants
- Submission timestamp
- The feed shows up to 30 most recent activities
Tip: Check the activity feed daily to stay updated on your children's exam activity without needing to drill into individual reports.
Unlinking a Child
If you need to remove the link to a child:
- Go to "My Children"
- Find the child you want to unlink
- Click "Unlink"
- Confirm the action
After unlinking:
- You lose access to that child's data immediately
- The child can generate a new link code if you need to re-link later
- Historical data you previously viewed is no longer accessible
Navigating the Parent Dashboard

Security and Privacy
Data Access Boundaries
- You can only see data for children linked to your account through valid link codes
- You cannot search for or view other students' data
- The link must be initiated by the student (they generate the code)
- All parent queries are verified against the
parent_student_linkstable
Audit Trail
All parent access to child data is logged:
- Which child's data was viewed
- What reports were accessed
- Timestamps of access
This ensures transparency and accountability in data access.

Updating Your Profile

- Click "Save"
Notification Preferences
- Go to "Settings" > "Notifications"
- Enable or disable notifications for:
- Exam results published
- Certificate issued

Troubleshooting
Cannot Find Link Code Option
- The student must be logged into their account to generate a link code
- The option is under "Settings" > "Parent Link" in the student's account
- If the option is not visible, the feature may not be enabled for the organization
Link Code Invalid
- Link codes are case-insensitive but must be entered exactly
- Each code can only be used once
- If the code was already used, the student should generate a new one
- Check that the student has not already linked to another parent with the same code
Cannot See Child's Data
- Verify the link status shows as "Active" in your "My Children" list
- If the child has no exam attempts, analytics will show empty data
- Check that the child's account is confirmed and active
Multiple Parents Linking to Same Child
Multiple parents can link to the same child. Each parent independently generates a link through a separate code. This supports scenarios where both parents want to track the child's progress.
